4th Annual Austin BATFEST! 2008

August 30th & 31st 2008 on the Ann Richards Congress Avenue Bridge
Saturday Aug 30th 2 PM until Midnight
Sunday Aug 31st 2 PM until 10 PM
Batfest!, Will feature Arts, Crafts, Music, Food, Bat Watching, Children's Activities, and Educational Displays. Estimated attendance is around 40,000! With Scenic backdrop of Town Lake and downtown Austin. Come out and see between 1.5 and 2 million Mexican Free Tail Bats while shopping for creative items made in Austin. See over 30 bands on two stages. Best of all, admission is only $5! What can you do for just $5 these days that includes so much and benefits Bats!
All professional Artists and Craftspeople are invited to participate in Batfest!... Approximately 150 Booths will be set up in the Festival Area located on the Congress Avenue Bridge in downtown Austin. The booths will feature Arts & Crafts such as pottery, jewelry, fine art, woodwork, stained glass, metal sculpture, mosaics, dicrylic, photography and much more.This area is well know for its eclectic night life (no joke intended) as well as it's proximity to downtown and to the more relaxed South Austin (78704 to those who know).

ROT Biker Rally Parade and Concert

The World’s largest Motorcycle Parade as certified by the Guiness Book of World Records. Free Live Music in the heart of downtown. Major national bands will perform at the Travis County Expo Center and Rally Grounds. Hundreds of Motorcycle & accessory vendors.

TEMPORARY WORKERS for the ROT Rally Motorcycle Parade and Free Concert on Congress Avenue. All employees are hired as contract workers for the event on Friday, June 13, 2008 only.
Positions include:
* Flaggers - direct motorcycles during the parade, keep people out of the street during the parade
* Security Monitors - watch equipment pre-show and during set up
* Other positions as necessary
Must be available to work Friday, June 13, 2008.
Various shifts: (end times are approximate)
* 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
* 6:00 pm - 11:00 pm
* 6:00 pm - 1:00 am
Plus a brief mandatory orientation meeting, time/date TBA.
Pay $8 per hour paid at the end of your last shift. You will only be paid for actual hours worked, not for the orientation meeting.
Employment Qualifications
For ALL Roadway positions, you must meet the following requirements:
* Age 18+ (some positions require Age 21+)
* Be able to pass a criminal background check
* Have a social security number and current photo ID
* Be physically able to sit or stand unassisted for long periods of time
* Be physically able to work outdoors and subject to the elements (This is Texas weather - anything can happen and it sometimes does!)
* Be able to read, write, and follow instructions
* Be able to communicate clearly with co-workers and the public

If you do, bring yourself, your friends, your family and even your dog to the 2nd Annual Austin Ice Cream Festival. This yummy event will include lot’s of games, activities, contests and live entertainment as well as what we all scream for…ICE CREAM!
Presented by Amplify Credit Union and Whole Foods Market and all those who love ice cream, the 2nd Annual Austin Ice Cream Festival is an event centered around family, fun, and ice cream which harkens back to a time when ice cream trucks roamed the streets and running through sprinklers was an art form. While having a great time, we will also be raising money for local charities, such as the Austin Children's Shelter, La Leche and Habibis Hutch.

To have fun with family and friends while enjoying a variety of wonderful ice cream treats.

Currently we have four scheduled events at their four regional offices through February and March.
Admission to all events is free and there will be Food, Beverages and Beer available. |

Louisiana Swamp Thing and Crawfish Festival 2008

It's all about the food and the music! This popular Louisiana themed event features the best in Louisiana cuisine prepared by concessionaires from Louisiana and Texas. Enjoy an extensive menu of Cajun seafood. The highlight of the show is 6000 pounds of jumbo crawfish and other bayou favorites. Enjoy dancers, juju mamas, and lots of beads and tokens. Music includes Cajun, Zydeco, Funk, Brass Bands, Blues, Rock, & Jazz . Belly dancers and late night burlesque shows will add to the excitement.

This event will feature professional wake boarders competing in a rail jam for major awards, along with live music by over 6 alternative rock bands, great food, graphite artist exhibits, custom boat accessories by numerous vendors, wakeboard accessories, wakeboard instructional sessions, a showcase of the latest wake board boats, and much more. Get ready for another great boating season and enjoy some high flying shows and great music. We will also have Skateboarding competitions by pro athletes, skateboarding gear, and a street bike show.

It's a Tamale Cook Off! It's a Salsa Challenge! It's a calibration of culture and heritage. On May 4th at the Outlets at Hillsboro Texas you can join in the celebration at this free event. The event will include salsa dance groups, latin bands such as La Conquista, free children’s activities include a moonwalk, slide, petting zoo, face painters, and more.

Texas State Arts Festival 2008

This years Texas State Arts festival promises to bring tons of Texas Crafts people and artisans together in a celebration of all things Texas. From Food to music, Arts and Crafts, this will be one heckuva Shindig.
To celebrate Texas Independence Day, Roadway Productions is organizing the Texas State Arts Festival March 1st and 2nd in the Shadow of the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum.
This festival will feature all that is great about Texas. Texas arts & crafts vendors will show off their works, Performances by a variety of Texas bands, Texas foods, and theatrical historical performances. We will also have all sorts of childrens activities making for a well rounded family event.
Located across from the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum
HOURS: Saturday & Sunday hours 10am - 7pm
COST: Admission $5 per day
12 and under FREE with an adult!
PARKING: FREE parking in adjacent state parking lots. Most parking meters are FREE on weekends.
